Ecsite 2006

Dave Patten chaired a session at this years Ecsite conference. The session called 'The Web - The good, the bad and the ugly' which looked at the way science centres use the web and how this is changing.

Video Labels

We have just started doing some evaluation on using video based labels to support and enhance the use of physical interactives. Early results are looking good..

NMSI mobile public beta

A while ago we posted about a first attempt at NMSI Mobile. We've now launched this as a public beta at http://mobile.nmsi.ac.uk. At the moment it just has simple links to opening times and a Phonifier version of our homepage as well as Multimap PDA versions of where the various museums in the NMSI family are.

Science Museum RSS Feed

Today we added a new feature to the Science Museum homepage which is tiny but significant. At the bottom of the left hand menu, there is now a small orange button and the words 'RSS feed':



These both link through to our RSS feedburner feed, which allows you to stay up to date with new things on the Science Museum website. The RSS feed is generated from the promoted 'cells' on the homepage. As these aren't chronological, the RSS feed might behave a little unexpectedly, but we hope it's useful.

The orange icon comes from Feed Icons - which is promoting the new icon as a 'standard', now that both Firefox and the new version of Internet Explorer have agreed to use it.
